We are pleased to announce we will be offering 3 new theatre workshops in Producing, Lighting, and Stage Management.

Intro to Theatre Producing Workshop

Are you curious about what it takes to bring a theatre production to life? Join us for an introductory workshop on theatre producing led by the talented Iain Moggach!

When: Sunday, November 24th, 10am-4pm
Where: Huronia Players Theatre
Instructor: Iain Moggach
Cost: $25 members, $35 non-members
What: In this workshop, award-winning theatre producer and educator, Iain Moggach, will explore and expand upon the fundamentals of theatre producing. At a time where theatres need to think more strategically than ever, having a strong skill set in producing can make all the difference!

From choosing shows that will retain existing audiences while attracting new ones, marketing and promotions, sponsorships and fundraising, and more, this workshop will open your eyes to the opportunities, possibilities, and necessary considerations you need for your theatre company to succeed.

Intro to Theatre Lighting Design

This workshop is designed to give you practical insights, tips, and hands-on experience that you can apply to future productions. Jonathan brings a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience to the table—this is a chance you won’t want to miss!

When: Saturday December 7th, 10am-12pm (Part 1), 12:30pm-2:30pm (Part 2)
Where: Huronia Players Theatre
Instructor: Jonathan Killing
Cost: $10 members, $20 non-members
What: This workshop will cover the basics of lighting design, hanging, and programming through a mix of presentation and hands-on work. We will begin with the theory of lighting design and how to help tell the story of the show. Then we will look at the process of ‘painting with light’ and what tools are available to achieve the results we want. The final portion of the workshop will focus on programming the lighting board. No prior experience is necessary.

Intro to Theatre Stage Management

The stage manager is often the first to arrive and the last to leave. Find out more about what it takes to execute this role on the production team. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from a seasoned expert.

Instructor: Jonathan Killing
Cost: $10 members, $20 non-members
What: Stage Managing a show can be one of the most challenging jobs, but also one of the most rewarding. In this introductory course, we will cover the basics of what the role entails, interactions with the other departments, and some tips and tricks to make a show run smoothly. We will also cover some of the specific skills needed such as: creating the show ‘bible’, what you need in your stage manager’s kit, the mechanics of recording blocking, how to lay out cues, and how to call a show. No prior experience is necessary.
