The Huronia Players/Thomson Family Award
If you are a graduating student and interested in continuing your education in the Arts, the following information will be of interest to you. The Huronia Players/Thomson Family Award ($1000.00) is presented to a graduating student from one of the four area Secondary Schools annually. The successful applicant must have been active in the area of the performing arts, i.e. music or drama, and is proceeding to post-secondary education in that field. This is not limited to performers and can include those interested in technical theatre.
Any students who meet the criteria are asked to submit a letter to their Guidance department outlining their experience in high school, the course they are planning to pursue and the institution they plan to attend. Applications should be forwarded to our address no later than June 7, 2024 or by email training@huroniaplayers.ca. A supporting letter from an appropriate staff member would also be helpful. A decision will be made by the Huronia Players Executive by June 14, 2024, at which time the recipient and their school will be notified.
The awarding of this prize is entirely at the discretion of the Executive of Huronia Players. If the Executive feels there are no appropriate recipients they may choose not to make the award. By the same token, if there should be two candidates of equal merit then they may choose to make two awards. We have experienced both situations over the lifetime of this award.
